I am pleased that Ljubljana, the European Green Capital 2016, which is committed to sustainable development, is hosting such an important bicycle conference. We are proud that international experts have recognized our progress in the field of cycling, and that the European Cyclists’ Federation has entrusted us with the organization of this meeting, where we will highlight the latest activities, guidelines and measures in the field of bicycling in the cities.
I’m eager to showcase my city on an international stage. Ljubljana is the capital of Slovenia and sustainability capital of the SE Europe, a quickly developing city with a clear vision to create multi-purpose, shared spaces and pursuing the goal of putting the quality of life at the forefront. Velo-city 2020 Ljubljana will be about disseminating high-quality information on cycling, showcasing global best practices, integrating cycling into relevant policy sectors and encouraging the greater use of cycling.
